Skin reaction due to ingestion of allergen by a previously sensitized person. Contact dermatitis may occur following the ingestion of metals such as nickel and mercury or medicaments including chlorpromazine, nystatin and ampicillin. There may be flares of dermatitis at sites of previous cutaneous contact and at earlier patch test sites.
