Tuberous Sclerosis

Neurocutaneous syndrome of dominant autosomal inheritance in which the brain, eyes, skin, heart, kidneys, lungs, and bones may be affected. It is classically defined by a triad of seizures, mental retardation, and a variety of skin lesions. The latter include adenoma sebaceum (angiofibroma presenting as firm, discrete, red or brown telangiectatic papules located in the nasolabial folds, chin, and cheeks), shagreen patches (irregularly thickened skin-coloured or brown elevated plaques, usually in the lumbosacral region), periungual and gingival fibromas, and hypopigmented macules.
