Mastocytosis, Diffuse


Very rare variety of mast cell disorder consisting of diffuse mast cell infiltration of the dermis. The skin develops a yellowish, thickened, doughy, and at times lichenified appearance. Nodules and small tumours may also be present. Pruritus is intense. In some cases it may be accompanied by extensive bullous eruptions following mild trauma or occurring spontaneously. Systemic involvement may also occur.
