Deposition of hydroxyapatite crystals of calcium phosphate within cutaneous tissues. It may be focal or widespread, symptomatic or asymptomatic. Calcification may follow cutaneous injury, it may be secondary to connective tissue or metabolic disorders, or it may be idiopathic. Lesions consist of firm or stony, flesh-coloured or white-yellowish papules and plaques.
