Alopecia, Diffuse

More or less evenly distributed loss of hair which may be caused by several factors including infections (e.g. influenza, typhus), chemical agents (thallium, thyroid antagonists, anticoagulants, cytostatic agents), endocrine disorders (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus), pregnancy, impaired liver function, severe chronic illness and nutritional deficiency. The hair loss results in a non-scarring alopecia.
