definitionBrownish-red or yellow nodule which usually appears in infancy or early childhood and represents a dense infiltration of mast cells in the upper dermis. The lesions may be solitary or multiple. After rubbing, the lesions usually wheal (Darier's sign) or even blister. Attacks of flushing by rubbing a solitary mastocytoma are uncommon, internal organs are usually not affected.
