Tattooing, Accidental

Pigmented particles that are accidentally introduced as contaminants in wounds or penetrate previously intact skin at high velocity result in accidental tattoos. Irregularly spattered pigmentation is often seen after road accidents. Accidents involving firecrackers and shotguns may result in tattooing, as well as coal dust in miners and iron salts used in the topical treatment of dermatitis.
