Definition

Disorder characterised by multiple hemangiomas involving at least three organ systems. The lesions may be present at birth or develop during the neonatal period. The typical patient shows multiple bright red, blue or purple superficial papular hemangiomas covering the entire body surface. The liver, CNS, gastrointestinal tract, lungs, eyes, mouth and tongue may be affected, as well as, less commonly, other organs including the thyroid, spleen, pancreas, muscles, kidney and heart. The hemangiomas usually regress, often as early as during the first year.
