Halo Nevus

definition

Melanocytic nevus surrounded by a depigmented halo of otherwise normal skin. It is relatively common, occurring particularly in older children and teenagers. The site of predilection is the trunk, particularly the back, but halo nevi may appear almost anywhere (with exception of the palm, soles, nails and mucous membranes). Circulating anti-melanoma antibodies have been detected in a proportion of patients with these lesions.
