Infantile Acropustulosis

definition

Disorder characterized by recurrent crops of intensely pruritic papulovesicular or vesiculopustular lesions appearing mainly on the palms and soles of infants between the ages of 2 and 10 months. It occurs predominantly in black infants. The dorsa of the feet and hands as well as the ankles, forearms, face and trunk may also be affected in a lesser extent. The crops tend to occur at intervals of 2 - 4 weeks, and they last for 1 to 2 weeks. The disorder resolves spontaneously by the time the patient is 2 or 3 years of age.
