definition

Localized, chronic pruritic disorder characterized by a well-demarcated circumscribed plaque with scaling that is rare in young children and is caused by rubbing and scratching. The skin becomes thickened, hyperpigmented and lichenified. Common areas of involvement are the nape of the neck, the ankles, and the pretibial areas.
