Tinea Manus

definition

Dermatophyte infection of the skin of the hand, most commonly caused by T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes and E. floccosum. In most cases there is pre-existing foot infection. Clinical manifestations range from diffuse hyperkeratosis of the palms and fingers and accentuation of the flexural creases to inflammatory vesicular reactions. Discrete erythematous papules and severe scaling and exfoliation may also occur.
