Tuberculosis Miliaris Ulcerosa Cutis et Mucosae

definition

Tuberculous infection of the mucosa or the skin adjoining orifices due to autoinoculation of tubercle bacilli from tuberculosis of internal organs. Lesions appear as shallow painful ulcers with undermined bluish edges and occur most commonly in the mouth. The affected patients are usually in poor general health with long-standing tuberculosis in one or more internal organs. Males are more frequently affected than females.
