Rare syndrome usually accompanying an internal malignancy. The previously normal follicles of all types revert to the production of hair with lanugo characteristics. Fine, downy hair grows over a large area of the body, replacing normal hair and primary and secondary vellus. The hypertrichosis may precede the diagnosis of a neoplasm by several years.
