definitionEpidermal naevus characterized by an asymptomatic irregular macular hyperpigmentation with hypertrichosis occurring mainly on the shoulders, anterior chest, or scapular region of adolescent males. It usually follows sun exposure. First a greyish-brown pigmentation appears. After a variable interval, usually a year or two, thick dark hairs appear in the region of the pigmented area.
